Gilly, who?

Reading the news line where Gilchrist of Australia have commented on Tendulkar saying that Sachin is a sore loser! Gilly, as he is fondly known in his courtyard, has mentioned, what he thinks is that Sachin’s statements in the “Monkeygate” affair, which involved a dramatic row over Harbhajan saying something to Symonds, were utterly a big lie.

Gilly also accuses Tendulkar of being unprofessional in some changing room incidents and the same for other Indian players.

And I wonder why these players mention it all in the autobiography after they retire with all the respect and applaud from the their teammates and the entire nation. (I feel many of them simply write the cries which they can’t ever think of uttering at times when they play in the national team for the fear of media and consequently that of the selection committee!) Why do they justify their unworthy personal & professional mistakes or slips, which could have been well resolved then and there itself.

And on the top of all, this all big hover comes at a time when Team Australia has been defeated so badly in Mohali Test. It shows that the former cricket Australia great Gilly could not digest the insult of his team. And who is he to teach professionalism to the person who is known to be the greatest ambassador of Cricket, has gone par with almost all the records?

The Sydney news papers refer to Gilly as the fastest double ton cracker in the test history. And news paper reports him to be writing that he was under private tensions when he played that 200+ innings. This in my opinion, is simply the begging for sympathy. And here he forgets that the man he has alleged to be a loser, holds as many records as even Gilly’s entire team together wouldn’t ever achieve. An unprofessional Sachin would not have scored most number of centuries in both the forms of the game and most number of runs in Test cricket, and what not! It takes heart to face all the criticism from media, to come out of injuries and give an innings to a nation of 100+ millions, which takes him to the top of the world. That’s Tendulkar. And Sachin has proven himself to the world. And a man of his stature does not have to prove anything to anyone. His game does it all for him.

And the release of Gilly’s comments have come at the time when Indian team is all set to cruise towards another win with every one contributing his heart to the game. And the Gilchrist episode is nothing more than just another Australian Cricket effort to disturb the joy, focus and morale of the host team. That’s another poor attempt I must say!

Also, Gilly is forgetting what Indians have as a saying, one should not pelt stones at others when your own house is made up of glass. The spat between Brett Lee and Ponting is in front of the world. Slow over rate charges against Ponting is another issue..

Sportsmanship? Look in to your own team with wide open eyes, Gilly!

One fine Sunday !!!

Friends,
As you know I work in Hyderabad and my hometown, Nanded is just 6 hours journey from here, I go home quite frequently. Usually I go there every alternate weekend. And this incident happened on my last tour home. I started on the Friday evening from here and reached home at 3 AM. (I don't take that train always). Anyways, I had a good Saturday, spent the whole day at home. Thank God at least Dhanu was there then. It would have been a very boring weekend otherwise. I am not a very homely guy that spends whole day at home! At least for twice/thrice I go out.
And that Saturday, me and Dhanu, while having a Tea, decided to go for a movie next day. As it had been quite long that I didn't watch a movie in theater, I agreed. (After Waseem left Hyderabad, I haven't gone to a theater). And so
, we also thought of going for a show that starts at 11:30 AM, so that I get enough time to rest at home after the show.

Sunday morning, out of sheer curiosity, that of a 15 year old boy, we kicked off the bike and went to Shyam Theatre. It was around 11 in the morning. It was to play the movie Kidnap. As we reached there, my dear friend reminded me that there is no cooling system in that theatre. I hate the humidity that occurs in a room, crowded by people with no cooling. I just said NO and started a long way to Ganesh theatre. As we reached that one, nobody except a group of 5-6 people was seen there. As we scanned the posters on the display, understood that some Telugu movie was on the screen at noon. Disappointed, we decided to go to Jyoti Cinema, now a Big Cinema. If you have been to Nanded, you might know that now-a-days renovation work is at its fullest speed in Nanded for a very grand celebration of Sikh community scheduled in this month. So, going from Ganesh to Jyoti, we thought of taking a short-cut road. To my horror, the road we took was closed for the ongoing fly-over construction and still as Dhanu guided, we took my small-sized 100cc Suzuki across the Rail track!!! while crossing the track, my bike started making furious sounds and I doubted that the Petrol in the bike is over. Luckily, after crossing the track and finding way through the crowd (which also had taken the short-cut way across the rail-track) for around 200 meters, we got ourselves on to the main road. Hussshhh.. was the only expression on our faces. All through this funny, furious travel, we reached the Jyoti cinema... The funniest part of the journey was we reached a theatre closest to our houses after travelling across almost half of the city.
This Jyoti theatre is now arguably the best in the city. It was 12 in the noon and we found two movies to be played at 12:30. We selected Drona over a Marathi movie since Drona has a better star-cast than the Marathi movie! We bought the tickets of Drona and to kill time we had a tea in the resto next to the theatre.
And when the movie started, to my horror, it was so boring.. that I felt sleepy in just half an hour.. So stupid concept in this age! We both could not bear that out of the world stupidity and in the interval, after spending 100 bugs on the popcorn and cold-drink.. we went back in when the show resumed, only to decide that we would not see it to the climax. Dhanu suggested that we shall go to Kidnap!
So at 2 PM, we, again took the Morcha to Shyam theatre.. To the boredom we faced already, my bike added another fun :). The clutch wire broke down when we were about to reach the Theatre. I tried to run the bike on the third gear (that’s when the clutch wire broke) as long as possible, desperate to reach the theatre, but in vain!! Result, we had to push the bike for 10 minutes up to theatre..
My patience was well tested that day. We bought the tickets and entered the movie. Horribly hot and humid conditions in the hall. I think the owner of the theatre must be one of the most cold-blooded animal on this planet. I have seen a number of movies in that theatre in the college days (like Saajan chale sasural, Khamoshi, and the one more boring flick, Mela!!!). And the setup of that theatre is not a single bit changed even today in around 10-15 years. The most const thing I have ever seen!!! By the time the movie was finished, all my clothes were wet!! My body was sweating as if I have had two Crocins at once.
After coming out of the theatre, to our luck, we found a mechanic near the theatre. (Needless to say, we had to push the bike to the mechanic!!).
This was how my wonderful weekend plan of movie ended at around 6 PM, with having seen one and a half films!!! And then and there itself, I decided not go for a movie in my dear motherland. Not at least in Shyam!!
